Ilia Topuria (16-0-0) and Charles Oliveira (35-10-0) will face off in the main event of UFC 317 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Topuria vacated his UFC featherweight title to move to the lightweight division to fight for the crown, which Islam Makhachev held. Like Topuria, Makhachev vacated the lightweight title to move to the welterweight division. This means El Matador will enter the Octagon looking to become a two-division UFC champion.
Charles Oliveira, on the other hand, is an ex-UFC lightweight champion with a lot to prove. He has been fighting in the franchise since 2010 and won the title with a win over Michael Chandler in May 2021. He successfully defended the title against Dustin Poirier in December that year before losing it to Makhachev in October 2022. If he wins against Topuria, Do Bronxs will once again move to the top of the UFC lightweight division rankings.

Charles Oliveira is an accomplished fighter with tons of UFC experience. He has recently mastered the art of mounting comebacks after getting dropped. He did this excellently against Daruish and Chandler. However, we suspect he won’t have a chance to do that against Topuria. El Matador delivers dangerous punches that any fighter would find it difficult to get up from. Still, underrating the promotion’s #2-ranked fighter is something the former featherweight titleholder wouldn’t want to do. We expect him to go for an early win here.
