With the victory, Anisimova still has a chance to advance into the semifinal round if she finds a way to repeat against Swiatek, whom she took down in the quarterfinal of the 2025 US Open 6-4, 6-3.
Swiatek will also try to secure her spot in the semifinal round after falling to Elena Rybakina 6-3, 1-6, 0-6 in her second assignment in the round-robin phase. The Pole gave up five service breaks against Rybakina, including three in the deciding set. Swiatek, who defeated Madison Keys in straight sets on Day 1, owns a career 33-9 record in indoor play.
