The Dallas Mavericks will take on the Houston Rockets at the American Airlines Center on Friday. It will be the Mavs’ first home game since trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Days after trading their franchise player for Anthony Davis in a blockbuster three-team trade, the Mavericks captured a signature win over the Boston Celtics, beating the defending champion on the road, 127-120. Klay Thompson waxed hot with 25 points, while reserve players Naji Marshall and Spencer Dinwiddie contributed 20 and 22 points, respectively. The Mavs’ lead swelled to as high as 27 points before the Celtics rallied to cut the deficit by single digit. The Rockets have lost their last five games, the worst stretch this season for this up-and-coming young team. Their latest setback came at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves, 114-127, on February 6. Jalen Green scored 28 points and Alperen Sengun tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists, but their numbers were not enough to overshadow Anthony Edwards’ 41-point night.
