Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Houston Astros (25-32, 13-18 Away) will try to make it two in a row today when they take on the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. Game time between these two AL West and in-state rivals is set for 8:05 p.m. EST, with coverage provided by ESPN Unlimited.

There is a chance the Astros may be shaking off their struggles and emerging as potential contenders in the AL West. They still have a lot of work to do, but with last night’s 4-3 win over the Rangers, they improved to 25-32 and just three games out of first (Texas is only two games out).

To keep the good times rolling, Houston will hand the ball to Spencer Arrighetti. He is 6-1 in seven starts with an ERA of 1.32 and a WHIP of 1.20. Arrighetti has pitched in four games this month, with shutouts in his last two starts. But he has not had his best stuff on the road, where he is 3-1 in four starts with a 1.74 ERA and opponents hitting .230 off of him.

As for the Rangers, they’ll hand the ball to Nathan Eovaldi to start the day. Eovaldi has been a bit erratic at times. He’s 5-5 in ten starts with a 3.65 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. Like most pitchers, he has been better at home, where he is 2-1 in three starts with a 3.79 ERA and a .222 OBA.
