The San Francisco Giants will host the Houston Astros for a 3-game series that begins tonight. These teams have been having polar opposite seasons. The Astros currently lead the Rangers by 0.5 game in the AL West, while the Giants are 21 games out in their division and are nearly eliminated from postseason contention already.

San Francisco has lost 6 of their 8 games in August and has really struggled at the plate. Over their last 4 games, they have scored just a total of 6 runs, which is one of the worst stretches in the league. Their starter will be Blake Tidwell, who has been doing the majority of his work in relief. However, in his last start, he went 5 innings and held the Rangers to just 2 runs on 6 hits. If he can give them another outing like that, they have a shot at defeating the visiting Astros.

Houston has had a mediocre start to the month. They are just 4-4 at this point and are coming off back-to-back losses to the San Diego Padres. In those losses, they were held to just 2 runs apiece and have only won games during this stretch when they have scored 5 or more runs.
