After winning two of the three games against the defending champs, The San Francisco Giants (32-34) take on another tough opponent from Texas as they play host to the Houston Astros (30-36) on Monday at Oracle Park. The Giants fell short of sweeping the Texas Rangers, who closed the series with a 7-2 win behind Marcus Semien’s two-run homer and Adolis Garcia’s hustle play. Giants starter Keaton Winn struggled to contain the Rangers’ batting onslaught, giving up seven earned runs in 6.1 innings. With the loss, San Francisco ended their six-game road trip with a 3-3 card. The Astros also failed to complete a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. After giving up only two runs in the first two games of the series, Houston conceded 9 runs to the Angels with Logan O'Hoppe blasting a tiebreaking two-run homer in the 9th inning. Jose Altuve tied a career high with four hits in the game but his effort won’t be enough to save the day for the Astros.
