The Houston Astros begin a road trip to the West Coast tonight. They will begin with a 3-game series against the San Diego Padres before taking on the San Francisco Giants early next week.
The Astros are coming off losing 2 of their 3 games in their previous series against the Toronto Blue Jays. This will be the 1st time they face the Padres on the season and are hoping to hold onto their 1.5 gam lead on the Rangers for the top spot in the AL West. Things will not be easy tonight as they are starting Ronel Blanco, who is just 0-1 and has a 7.36 ERA in his 3 starts on the season. Luckily, the Astros are in the top 10 in the league in runs scored, so run support should be available for him.
The Padres are coming off a 2-2 split in their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Over those 4 games, they combined to average 9.75 runs per game. That number only grows when looking back at their previous games this month. While their lineup is not the most imposing, they are being treated to Ronel Blanco as the opposing pitcher, who they should be able to get to early.
