To that end, the Astros are scheduled to give Christian Javier the start on the mound. He has gone 2-5 in 14 appearances (nine starts), posting a 5.98 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. Houston has competed with Philadelphia in recent years. They won Tuesday’s game 6-5 and were competitive in the loss yesterday (11-7). The lineup has done well against Wheeler, hitting .297 in 92 at-bats against him. But even if Houston can get to him, I’m afraid the Philly lineup will get to Javier even more. Philadelphia has been hitting .244 over the last week to Houston’s .260. But both generated 27 runs across six games. Javier has a solid history against the Phillies (.222 OBA), but there is nothing about him this season that tells me I should bet on him containing the Philadelphia lineup…so I’m not.
