The Miami Marlins’ 5-game winning streak is on the line on Monday when they host the Houston Astros at LoanDepot Park.
The Marlins’ surging continued through the weekend, completing a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees. Miami added 7 more to their run tally against the Yankees as Kyle Stowers blasted a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs to power his team to a 7-3 win over the Bronx Bombers. Miami is now at .500 with a 55-55 record, trailing only the New York Mets (63-49) and the Philadelphia Phillies (62-48) in the NL East.
Meanwhile, the Astros have just come from the receiving end of a sweep at the hands of the Boston Red Sox over the weekend. Houston could not score more than their season average of 4.4 runs per game as Boston’s pitchers dominated in all three games. Houston still sits at the top of the AL West with a 62-50 record, but the 60-53 Seattle Mariners have closed the gap, cutting the Astros’ lead to 2.5 games.
