It's impossible to say the Astros have had a great season, but Joe Espada's team has taken full advantage of the AL being more open than ever. They've made the most of their late July series against the Marlins, White Sox, and Angels, and are now just one game out of a Wild Card spot.
The Astros took a 6-4 lead in the first game of their series against the Angels, staging an electrifying comeback in which Spence, Paredes, Wad, and Altuve combined for four RBIs in the ninth inning for a much-needed victory. Espada didn't hesitate to bring in Hader, not only for Monday's game but also to close out Tuesday's game, which the Astros won 3-2.
The Astros continue to rely heavily on the efforts of Yordan Álvarez; the Cuban's July performances have certainly solidified his position as the favorite in the AL MVP betting odds. Now he's reinforced his ambition to win the Triple Crown, playing a key role on Tuesday with a solo home run in the fifth and an RBI single in the ninth.
