Once again, just as happened in Houston earlier this season, the Angels were having a good run that was abruptly cut short by the Astros. The Astros won Game 1 of the series 2-3 in Los Angeles. Manager Espada will be happy to have trusted so much in Hunter Brown, who is in the midst of an elite season and was able to pitch another five innings against the Angels, allowing only one run. However, the game was close, and Espada had to rely on several bullpen players: Dubin, King, Abreu, Hader, and Sousa all combined to pitch five more innings and win in extra innings.

While the Astros have been the best team in MLB since late May, the Angels had to deal with some bad news: their 72-year-old manager, Ron Washington, will no longer be able to manage the team due to health issues.

For Game 2 at Angel Stadium, the pitching duel is scheduled between Walter, of the Astros, and Jose Soriano, of the Angels.
