The Houston Astros (30-35 SU, 30-35 ATS) attempt to complete the sweep of the Los Angeles Angels (24-40 SU, 36-28 ATS) after winning the first two games easily. The Astros haven’t been this close to .500 since falling to Kansas City on April 9, which dropped them to 4-8 overall. Houston has gradually rebuilt its chances in the AL West, and with the Mariners unable to pull away because of a weak road record, the Astros are still very much alive.
The Angels, on the other side, are very much not. Los Angeles has slipped into last place in the AL West and now owns the second-worst record in the American League, ahead of only the White Sox. The Angels’ biggest problem is the same one that plagues starter Patrick Sandoval: they haven’t done the job at home. For the year, Sandoval is 0-6 with a 5.54 ERA in Anaheim.
