The Houston Astros will try to avoid the sweep in Detroit as they take on the Tigers in Game Three of a three-game series. First Pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. EST, and the game will be available to watch via the MLB Network.

Houston’s offense has disappeared. For the third game in a row and fourth in five games, the Astros were held scoreless (all losses, of course). In three of those games, the pitching staff didn’t really help too much, giving up seven (vs. Baltimore, Aug. 15), 12, and 10. But then in yesterday’s game, the winning run was scored via a walk with bases loaded in extra innings. Framber Valdez is scheduled to start the game for the Astros. The ace has gone 11-6 in 24 starts with a 3.01 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a .230 OBA. However, he has not been as great on the road, where he is 6-4 in 12 starts with a 4.22 ERA and a .247 OBA. As for the Lions, they’ll start Charlie Morton. Morton is 8-10 in 20 starts (26 appearances) with a 5.20 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and a .269 OBA. In his last home start, he was chased after 4 1/3 innings after giving up seven hits (two home runs), and six earned runs.
