The Houston Astros (9-15, 2-9 Away) will try to make it two in a row on the road for the first time this season when they face the Guardians on Tuesday, April 21, at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH. First Pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.
For Houston, the struggle has been all too real. Prior to Monday’s 9-2 win over the Guardians in Cleveland, the Astros had gone 1-9 in road games. The win also brought their current losing streak to an end at four in a row. If they are going to make it two in a row, they’ll need something they haven’t seen much of all season— quality pitching out of the bullpen.
The ERA for the 'pen has been 6.0+, but just recently dropped back below 6.00 to 5.66, the highest for a bullpen in baseball to date and the only one over 5.00. Ryan Weiss is set to start the day on the mound for Houston. He has a 6.75 ERA, and opponents have been hitting .254 with a 2.05 WHIP.
Cleveland is scheduled to start Parker Messick. Messick has had a solid season to date, having gone 3-0 in four starts with a 1.05 ERA and a .78 WHIP.

Our Cleveland Guardians vs Houston Astros Prediction
In a way, I can understand why there is more money on the Astros to win. After yesterday's offensive explosion, it is easy to believe they can have another such performance today. However, Cleveland starter Parker Messick is having a great season and has been hard to hit. Houston appears to be going with a bullpen day, which is not encouraging since the Astros bullpen has the highest ERA in baseball. However, the Guardians' lineup has not been very productive this season. So, while I think Cleveland will win, I am not confident they can cover the run line.
