The Chicago White Sox hope to turn their fortunes around against the Houston Astros in a Thursday afternoon game this week. The first game of this series was a bit of a snoozefest, with the White Sox winning 2-0 thanks to some incredible pitching from the rookie Jonathan Cannon. Cannon earned his first big league win, allowing only 7 hits and pitching into the 9th inning to secure a shared shutout effort. Their 20th victory of the season, the White Sox became the last MLB team to reach that milestone, with 13 of them earned on the South Side. Sox fans are rightfully hopeful of Cannon’s prospects moving forward given that he has now thrown almost 19 innings with only one earned run allowed. But they must provide their support to a different player on Thursday, as the righty Chris Flexen gets the start for the White Sox.
