The Bundesliga’s late Sunday meeting is an interesting one between a drowning Heidenheim and a flourishing Stuttgart, coming together at Voith-Arena.
After their superb performance away to a very dominant Dortmund side, scoring twice and finding many high-quality chances, Heidenheim have dropped back off in their last two meetings, both against lower-ranking clubs.
The visitors have another away game this weekend following their fixture in Europe just three days prior. Whilst they were victorious with a 1-4 win, the xG implies it was a much more even game, in fact slightly favouring their opponents, Celtic.
This would’ve been a very tiring game, and they’ve had to travel far, so Heidenheim will seek to capitalise on any advantage they can find. Often when Stuttgart play away midweek their weekend fixture is affected, for example they lost to St Pauli away after an away DFB Pokal meeting, another example being their loss to Hamburg following an away UEL fixture.

Our Heidenheim vs Stuttgart Prediction
The German has played sporadically for Heidenheim this season, but he seems to be proving himself as he is in the team a lot more recently; he’s started their last three games and he’s produced a total of nine starts.
This includes not only shooting but scoring a brace in their very tough away clash against Dortmund, where he was the best player on the field for FCH. Moreover, given more regular playing time, Niehues can clearly build momentum, scoring his only three goals in his last five games that he’s in the starting lineup.
In general, Heidenheim often find chances when they’re able to play on the break, for example scoring two past Freiburg at home and tying 1-1 at Frankfurt, as well as two most recently against Dortmund.
Above all, the hosts aren’t expected to do much in this game against a superior club, but considering they’re hosting a fatigued Stuttgart, don’t be surprised if the home side finds some opportunities here, and Niehues is in good form for Heidenheim right now.
Our Heidenheim vs Stuttgart Pick: Julian Niehues 1+ Shot on Target.
