Phoenix Mercury (4-1) versus Golden State Valkyries (2-2) is an exciting Western Conference matchup at Footprint Center. The Mercury have been sizzling hot, starting the campaign with back-to-back wins before suffering a setback against the Storm. However, they showed excellent resilience to recover from the 7-point defeat to win against the Mystics and the Sky at home. This superb form has seen them move just a game behind the untouchable Minnesota Lynx.
Golden State Valkyries, meanwhile, marked their league debut with a 17-point loss to the Sparks. However, the expansion side bounced back with two straight wins against the Mystics and the Sparks before the Liberty gave them a 25-point blowout. The defending champions bullied the newcomers from start to finish, as they did against weaker sides. Golden State must quickly learn from the rude “welcome aboard” moment and win ‘big’ games to add confidence to the team.
