Mississippi State got its first SEC win of the season last weekend with a 38-35 victory over Arkansas. They go for SEC win No. 2 Saturday when they host the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, MS. Kickoff for this SEC clash is scheduled for 12 p.m. EST. Georgis nearly took its second loss of the season last weekend against in-state rival Florida. Despite being 7.5-favorites, the Bulldogs couldn’t pull away from the Gators and fell behind 20-17 early in the fourth quarter. They were finally able to pull ahead for good with a late fourth-quarter touchdown. Against a Mississippi State team that was really competitive in three of its four conference losses, Georgia will need its defense to step up and keep Mississippi State’s offense in check in case their own offense struggles to get on track like it has in recent weeks. As for Mississippi State, had one or two plays gone differently against Tennessee, Florida, and Texas, the perception of this team could be drastically different from what it is. The offense has the potential to put up some points, as seen in last week’s 38-35 win or in the 45-38 overtime loss to Texas. But it would certainly help if the defense could play a complete game. They had a 7-point lead in the fourth quarter against Tennessee and a 17-point fourth quarter lead against Texas, but went on to lose both games in OT.
