The Florida Gators are +5.5 underdogs when they visit the UConn Huskies in the showdown of the two most recent NCAA men’s basketball champions on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.

Florida will attempt to bounce back from a tough one-point loss to Duke, 66-67, on December 2. The Gators came a basket short of tainting Duke’s immaculate record despite shooting only 37 percent from the field. The Gators put up a gallant fight against the highly touted Duke team. Thomas Haugh scored a team-high 24 points and Boogie Fland added 16 for Florida, which only made 25 of its 67 field goal attempts and 7 of 28 shots from beyond the arc. Despite their cold shooting, Florida still had a shot to win the game, but turned the ball over on an inbound play as time expired.

UConn is looking like a contender again this year after compiling an 8-1 record through its first 9 games. The Huskies are on a four-game winning streak, with their recent victory coming at the expense of the East Texas A&M Lions. UConn has already taken down three ranked teams, beating No.7 BYU 86-84, No.13 Illinois 74-61, and No.21 Kansas 61-56. They received their only loss this season from Arizona, 67-71, on November 19.
