Brazilian tennis sensation João Fonseca will lock horns with Fabian Marozsan of Hungary in the first round of the men’s singles tournament at the 2025 Rome Masters on Thursday.

If this match is all about potential, then there’s no question, Fonseca would be the hands-down winner. But the Brazilian will enter his first-round tussle with Maroszan in shaky form, having won only once in three matches since the start of the European clay-court season. Marozsan, meanwhile, had a breakthrough run in Munich where he posted three impressive wins before falling short against Zverev in the semis. The Hungarian lost his first-round match against Flavio Cobolli 7-6(4) 7-5, but the game could have gone the other way around if Marozsan had only scored on the pivotal moments.
