Argentinian club Estudiantes were caught off guard at the Maracana by Flamengo early on in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-final. The Brazilian side were already leading 2-0 after 10 minutes thanks to goals from Pedro (1') and Varela (9'). But the current Serie A Betano leaders will have plenty to regret after Leo Pereira's own goal in added time (90+1). Estudiantes have not said their last word in their quest to qualify for the semi-finals. Eduardo Dominguez's side have just won a hard-fought home victory over Defensa y Justicia (1-0) thanks to an own goal by visiting defender Rafael Delgado in the last quarter of an hour (76th). This narrow victory ends Estudiantes' negative spiral of three consecutive defeats at Central Cordoba (2-0), against River Plate (1-2) and at Flamengo (2-1).
Is Flamengo, the leader of Serie A Betano, capable of getting a positive result against the third-place team in the Argentine league?
