Ekatarina Alexandrova of Russia will go head-to-head with Elise Mertens of Belgium in the semifinal round of the 2025 Libema Open on Saturday.
Alexandrova needed an extra set to record her third win in 's-Hertogenbosch, beating Veronika Kudermetova 5-7 6-4 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Alexandrova overcame 10 double faults by winning 74 percent of her first serves or 39 points out of 53 chances. She also fired nine aces and won 8 service breaks to offset the 6 service breaks she conceded in the match.
Mertens also moved on to the semifinal round after topping Yue Yuan 6-0 6-4. Mertens, who also eliminated Viktoriya Tomova 6-4 6-0 and Maria Sakkari 6-3 6-0, won a game on all her serves except one and nabbed five breakpoints to cruise to an easy quarterfinal win on Friday.
