Elina Svitolina of Ukraine will attempt to advance into the second round of the 2025 Bad Homburg Open against Elise Mertens on Sunday.
Svitolina is scheduled to play her first grass-court match since reaching the quarterfinal of the 2025 French Open, kicking off a new campaign on grass against the world’s No.24 Mertens. Svitolina has a 26-24 record on grass and a two-time Wimbledon Open semifinalist.
Mertens will be trying to win her second grass-court title this year after ruling the Libema Open in the Netherlands two weeks ago. The Belgian racked up five consecutive wins, including a 6-3 7-6(4) victory over Elena Gabriela Ruse in the final, to triumph for the first time on grass court.
