Two teams with a promising start to the NHL season face off: the Utah Mammoth takes on the Edmonton Oilers. This is a rematch of their previous game on October 15th, which Utah won 4-2 in Edmonton. The Oilers again look like a Stanley Cup contender, but Utah has had a hot start to the season, is playing good hockey, and is likely to push for a playoff spot.
For this upcoming matchup, the Mammoth will come in with a 6-2-0 record and three straight wins against Buffalo, Toronto, and Edmonton. In those victories, they demonstrated a tremendous ability to capitalize on power plays; in fact, against the Oilers, two goals in the win came from such plays. Keller, Utah's captain and offensive leader, is coming off a two-goal performance against the Oilers, including an empty-net goal.
Despite their loss to Utah, the Oilers have a healthy 5-1-1 record. Before losing to Mammoth, they had a very successful road trip through California, winning 12-4 on aggregate in those games.
