The St. Louis Blues (26-29-10) will play host to the Edmonton Oilers (32-26-8) on Friday evening. The Oilers dominated their previous meeting back in January when they defended their home ice. After a 3-0 1st period lead, the Oilers coasted the rest of the way and finished with a 5-0 victory. Connor Ingram stopped all 27 shots he faced in net, and Zach Hyman finished with 2 goals and an assist.
The Blues have had a strong start to the month. They are 5-1 to this point, with the lone loss coming in overtime against the visiting Islanders on Tuesday. On the season, the Blues have had a rough season, statistically speaking. They are near the bottom of the league in most major categories. However, their play as of late is a good sign that they have not given up on the season and could make a late push for a wildcard spot.
The Oilers, on the other hand, have been near the top of the league in all statistical categories. The most impressive one has been their ability to take advantage of their power play opportunities. They are 1st in the league in that category, having converted on 33.1% of their power play opportunities.
If the Blues want to have a better result this time around, they will need to stay out of the penalty box and find a way to light the lamp at least once.
