The New Jersey Devils will head out for a fourth consecutive victory as they host the Edmonton Oilers at the Prudential Center on Saturday.
The Devils were hammered 6-3 in their season opener by the Carolina Hurricanes, but Sheldon Keefe's team has made an impressive recovery since then. They secured road wins against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets, followed by a 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers in their home opener on Thursday.
New Jersey managed to beat the reigning Stanley Cup champions despite losing starting goaltender Jacob Markstrom to injury in the previous game. Jake Allen took over the crease and stopped 21 of 22 shots.
The Oilers are heading to Newark after suffering their second loss of the season. On Thursday, defenseman Evan Bouchard had a nightmare, and Edmonton had to settle for a 4-2 loss against the New York Islanders, allowing Bo Horvat to score the game's final three goals.
While Thursday's result was a setback for the team, Connor McDavid's crew can be pleased with their start to the season. Edmonton has gone 2-1-1 so far, allowing only 2.00 goals per game. With talents like McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the team can always score goals. But defense is key for them, and things appear to be clicking at the back.
