In an all-Canadian matchup, the Montreal Canadiens will host the Edmonton Oilers at Bell Centre on Sunday, looking to avenge a narrow defeat they suffered in their earlier meeting this season.
The Oilers had one of their first home games of the campaign against Montreal on Oct. 23, winning 6-5. Kris Knoblauch’s team produced an impressive comeback in the clash, having fallen into a 5-3 hole early in the third period.
Edmonton has struggled with defensive issues throughout the season, prompting the team to take decisive action on Friday by acquiring goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jarry has also had some struggles in recent years, but he has done solid work in 2025-26. In 13 starts with the Penguins, Jarry posted a 9-3-1 record, while allowing 2.66 goals with a .909 save percentage.
So far this season, Edmonton has posted a .879 save percentage, ranking only behind two teams. One of them is Montreal, which shares the NHL’s worst save percentage with the Ottawa Senators. With Jakub Dobes and Sam Montembeault struggling, the Canadiens gave Jacob Fowler his NHL debut on Thursday.
Fowler defeated the Penguins 4-2 with 36 saves in his debut and could now start getting regular action going forward. It’s unclear if Fowler and Jarry go head-to-head on Sunday, as both teams have back-to-backs scheduled this weekend.

Our Montreal Canadiens vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction
The Oilers have found some form recently, entering the weekend on a 3-0-1 run, and they have a great record against Montreal. The shake-up in the crease may also serve as a wake-up call, making everybody perform better.
Montreal looked fantastic early in the season, and they still have the quality to hurt teams. However, in recent weeks, the Canadiens have struggled, winning only one of their last seven games in regulation. Their outstanding top line hasn’t been receiving enough support, and things don't improve on Sunday, they will likely struggle to match Edmonton's star-studded offense.
Our prediction for Edmonton Oilers vs. Montreal Canadiens: Oilers to win.
