It's France vs Croatia at the WTA event in Monterrey late on Monday, when Diane Parry and Donna Vekic will clash. As the more established top-level player, Vekic is quite a warm favorite, but she'll need to improve on recent hard-court efforts to get the better of a 23-year-old who is clearly improving, as we saw in Cincinnati last week.
As the early odds suggest, Diane Parry is the underdog here, but she could easily cause an upset. She's previously beaten Donna Vekic, while she's been playing well of late, winning three matches in Cincinnati, before putting up a reasonable effort against multiple Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek. Let's face it, there's no shame in losing to a top player of that nature, while she's beaten some very decent opponents, including Elise Mertens, which suggests that she can perform well here.
