The Detroit Tigers (30-30 SU, 27-33 ATS) look to pick up the series win against the Texas Rangers (29-31 SU, 26-34 ATS) after claiming the first game in a low-scoring manner. Detroit has mostly been a light-hitting that strikes out far too often. The Tigers do lead the majors in triples, but that has more to do with how their park plays than their own hitting prowess.
On the other hand, starter Jack Flaherty has experienced a career renaissance in Michigan. Last year, he moved to Baltimore to try to help the Orioles in their postseason run but got blown up for a 6.75 ERA in seven starts. This season, his ERA is down to 3.46, his best since 2021. Even though he’s just 2-4, it’s clear he’s a much better pitcher than he was a year ago.
