The Detroit Tigers are winding down their lengthy road trip with a 3-game series that begins tonight against the San Francisco Giants.

The road has been kind to these Tigers. They are 5-1 over the previous 6 games on the road. After sweeping the Athletics, they went into Seattle and took 2 out of 3 there. The bats have been lively during this stretch. The Tigers are averaging 9.1 runs per game over those 6 games. They also picked up 3 shutouts in those wins. They will start Keider Montero, who is 8-6 with a solid 3.17 ERA. The Tigers have played well recently in support of Montero.

For the Giants, things have not been going well. They traded their top hitter, Luis Arraez, who was 2nd in the league in batting average, to the Phillies, and the losses came quickly after. They are just 1-4 in the month of August and are coming off a shutout loss to the Rangers just 2 days ago. Tonight, they will go with a bullpen start as JT Brubaker will be the 1st one to take the mound. With a combined team ERA of 4.38, which is 22nd in the league, a bullpen start might be tough for this Giants squad.
