It's definitely been a disastrous series for the Yankees in their first two games in New York against the Tigers; they lost by 10 runs on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In Wednesday's game, Rodón pitched a quality outing, but when the game was close, the Yankees' bullpen imploded. Four of the five relievers Boone brought in allowed one earned run or more. For the Tigers, Greene hit his 33rd home run of the season and Kerry Carpenter his 24th home run in front of an annoyed Yankees fan following the rout.
The Yankees had an excellent close to August, partly because they faced the Nationals and White Sox, teams at the bottom of their division. In September, the Yankees managed to win series against the Astros and Blue Jays, with great difficulty, but New York's record against winning teams this season isn't very impressive, just 51-47.
For his part, Judge isn't having an impressive September so far; in fact, he only hit one home run this month and also had only one multi-hit game.
