The Tigers looked like they had a shot at a playoff spot before August, but their streak of losing nine of ten games in the middle of this month seems to have diminished those chances. Specialized websites give them just over a 3% chance of making the playoffs. Even so, if they do, it wouldn't be the first time they've pulled off a miraculous qualification, and September will start with them frequently facing divisional rivals.

The Twins remain at Target Field after losing their previous series against the White Sox, but they had also previously dropped a winnable series against the Athletics and one before that against the Padres.
