The Twins have put their slow start behind them, taking care of it themselves by winning the first three games of their four-game series against the Tigers at Target Field. Minnesota aims to complete its first sweep of 2026 by starting Mick Abel against Jack Flaherty for the Tigers, in a matchup of pitchers who were highly hittable in their first starts this year.
At least for this series, it seems the Twins' scouting team has done a fantastic job of identifying opposing pitchers' weaknesses, as they pressured and scored several runs against the Tigers' trio of pitchers—Mize, Skubal, and Valdez—in each of the three games. Neither the Cy Young winner nor the Dominican pitcher looked comfortable; in fact, Valdez allowed a six-run first inning in which Minnesota's more experienced hitters—Buxton, Jeffers, and Bell—all scored.
The series continues, and at least in Game 3, the Tigers' offense didn't falter; they narrowed the gap in the seventh and eighth innings. Gleyber Torres had another multi-hit game; lacking home runs, the Tigers need multiple singles to score.

Flaherty is coming in to try and tame this unleashed Twins offense against the Tigers' overwhelming pitching, but the veteran former Cardinal is coming off a rough outing against his old team, allowing 5 runs, and in neither of his two previous starts did he reach the fifth inning.
It's the same story for Mick Abel, the 24-year-old pitcher who, like Flaherty, had two shaky outings previously; in each of them, he issued three walks. This presents a good betting opportunity to wager on an over.
