The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner has odds of -375 over Crochet and Eovaldi to win another Cy Young. Tarik Skubal, with an 11-3 record, a 2.35 ERA, and 187 strikeouts, will pitch for the Tigers in Game 1 of their series against the Twins, and his mere presence caused the odds to drop to -210 in favor of Detroit for the game in Minneapolis.

Skubal had an unusual outing, not as good as his last one against the Angels on August 8 in Detroit, but for the Tigers ace, his best has come recently, pitching outside of Comerica Park, like when he dominated the Phillies in Philadelphia, striking out 10, or when he struck out 11 Rangers at Globe Life Field on July 20.

On June 29, Skubal had one of his best starts of 2025 against the Twins; He pitched seven innings of one hit and struck out 13. It was a game the Tigers won 3-0.

This is a four-game Tigers-Twins series, and although the Twins dismantled their team by being the franchise that sold the most important players at the trade deadline, they were able to win before losing their series in the Bronx against the Yankees, a series against those same Tigers, and also the Royals in August.
