The Minnesota Twins (6-11 SU, 7-10 ATS) look to pick themselves up off the canvas as they welcome in the Detroit Tigers (10-9 SU, 6-13 ATS). The Twins just got swept in Baltimore and haven't won a series since their opening series in Kansas City. Minnesota hasn't played winning baseball at all at home, going just 1-4 in five games at Target Field.
Detroit has also cooled off since the opening week. The Tigers started the year hot, but they went just 3-5 on their recent homestand. The Tigers have been almost entirely tied to the fortunes of their starting pitching. They own the best bullpen in the majors, but their bullpen ERA is a full two runs lower than their overall pitching staff's. That makes it clear that the starters need to start getting the job done.

Detroit believes it just has to get the game to the seventh with the lead and the bullpen will do the rest. That's good in the case of Jack Flaherty in that he's a consistent innings eater. In three starts for the Tigers, he has not failed to get through six innings. The problem is that they're going up against Joe Ryan, who has been Minnesota's stopper.
Ryan has looked very good in three starts this season, with the Twins winning two of them. He hasn't gotten into the win column because Minnesota's offense hasn't done much hitting, leaving him with a tied game when he exits. For the season, Ryan has given up just five earned runs. With Flaherty coming off a solid start last time against Minnesota and the Tigers' bullpen putting in good work, a low total seems probable.
