Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers Prediction & Picks - MLB

A few weeks ago the Tigers' chances of getting a Wild Card berth seemed really slim, but a good end to August and an excellent September have them just 1.5 games behind the Twins who hold the last Wild Card.

There is no more than 2.5 games difference between the Royals, Twins and Tigers. Now, in a key series for the aspirations of both Tigers, they improbably won the first two games of the series in Kansas City not being the favorites in any of the betting sites. Now, they will be favorites for Game 3 because Cy Young candidate Skubal, with a 16-4 record and 2.50 ERA, will take the mound in one of the most important games of the season.

Also, it is an opportunity for Skubal to redeem himself against the Royals, one of the few teams that has been able to cause him damage this season. In two appearances Skubal had against the Royals in May he was hit with at least four ER in each and the Game Total was OVER in each game.

The Tigers' offense will also have to back him up. The Tigers have hit recently and are averaging 8.8 hits per game and 5 runs per game over the last 10 games.
