After snagging 2 out of 3 in Arizona, the Tigers (23-23) head to Kansas City in hopes of stealing yet another series victory before heading back home Thursday. While winning 3 of 3 was nice, the Tigers did fail to complete the sweep by losing on Sunday 6-4. Tied at 4-4 in the 7th, the DBacks put up 2 in the bottom of the 7th which ultimately led to the Tigers loss. The 29-19 Kansas City Royals will look to play bad hosts in this 3-game series as they try to extend their win streak to 4 games. They are fresh off a 3-game sweep of the Oakland A’s in which they outscored them 19-9 through the 3 games. Maikel Garcia went 5-13 with 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored in the A’s series. The Royals will have Michael Wacha (3-4, 4.71) on the bump and is coming off his 2nd best start of his season. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits through 6 innings while striking out 7 against Seattle on Tuesday. He will face Reese Olson (0-4, 2.09) who is still in search of his 1st win despite a solid ERA. He has allowed just 1 earned through 19 innings in his last 3 starts. He is begging for some run support which the Tigers have not been able to provide.

It has been a catch-22 type of season to this point for Detroit’s Reese Olson. His personal stats have been off the charts but due to the lack of run support, he has not been able to pick a win up to this point. As a team, the Tigers are 21st in the league in runs scored and 21st overall in slugging. We like Olson to continue his strong season and will hold the Royals in check while his batters will continue to struggle against a decent starter in Wacha.
