The Houston Astros will start the week with a three-game home series against the Detroit Tigers before heading back out on the road later in the week. Game One of the series gets underway tonight at 8:10 p.m. EST at Daiken Park in Houston.
Houston went 5-1 in their last homestand (2-1 vs. San Diego and 3-0 vs. Toronto) before going on the road to play the Royals in Kansas City. After dropping two of three, the team is heading back home for a three-game series before hitting the road again. They ended the trip to the Midwest on the right note with a 7-3 win over the Royals. Hunter Brown got the win after six innings, giving up seven hits and one earned run while striking out nine. Detroit comes to town on the heels of a three-game sweep of the Orioles at home.
Detroit is scheduled to start Jack Flaherty. The righty is 1-2 in four starts this season with a 2.63 ERA. In his last three starts, the Tigers' lineup gave him three runs in support and got shut out twice. Houston will start Ronel Blanco; Blanco is 2-2 with a 5.01 ERA (down from 9.45 following his second start).

Detroit has been one of the best baseball teams this season, but not necessarily when playing on the road. Jack Flaherty has pitched well but tends to get no run support from his lineup. Houston, on the other hand, is playing well at home. In his last two home starts, Ronel Blanco has allowed just three runs in his last two home starts (one vs. Toronto and two vs. Minnesota).
I don’t know if Houston is the better team overall, but they will be today.
