The Detroit Tigers will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today when they take on one of their division rivals, the Guardians, in Cleveland at Progressive Field. It is the first of a three-game series; First Pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EST.
Detroit beat the Nationals in Game One of their midweek series on Wednesday, 11-2. However, they then lost the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday, 9-4, and followed that up with an 11-7 loss yesterday. Cleveland, on the other hand, has been on a losing streak, coming up on the short end of the scoreboard in their last seven games. They lost yesterday to the Cubs in extra innings, 1-0 F/10. Reese Olson will make his return to the majors for the Tigers after spending some time on the IL (15-day). He has pitched well when healthy, going 4-3 in nine games with a 2.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Olson is 1-2 in five road starts with a 3.76 ERA but held opponents to a .191 BA. Cleveland will hand the ball to Slade Cecconi to start the day. He’s gone 3-3 in eight starts with a 3.64 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP.
