The Cincinnati Reds (18-9) will look to complete the sweep of the Detroit Tigers (14-4) this afternoon. In both previous games, the Reds were able to post 9 runs apiece. In game one, the Reds walked it off on a 2-run homerun by Nathaniel Lowe to win 9-8. In game two, Brady Singer picked up the win after going 5. Innings and allowing 2 runs. The bullpen chipped in by holding the Tigers scoreless in 3.2 innings of combined work by 4 different relievers.

Elly De La Cruz has continued his solid start for the Reds. He has gone 3-7 with a homerun and 2 RBIs while also scoring 3 runs. Rhett Lowder will be tasked with shutting down this Tigers lineup and completing the sweep. He is coming off a strong start over Tampa Bay, where he went 6 innings and allowed just 1 run on 5 hits.

He will be opposed by Detroit’s Keider Montero, who is just 1-2 on the season. He picked up his 2nd loss in his last start against the Brewers on Tuesday. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 5.2 innings. The rougher part of his last outing was how badly the bullpen did in his relief. They allowed 9 runs after Montero’s exit.

The sweep is very much in play with this pitching matchup. That, along with the hot hitting of the Reds lately, will be tough for this Detroit team.
