The Chicago White Sox (30-27, 18-11 Home) will try to keep the good times rolling at home today when they host the Detroit Tigers (22-36, 8-22 Away) in Game 2 of their three-game weekend series. First Pitch at Rate Field in the Windy City is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. EST with coverage provided by ESPN Unlimited.
After winning last night's game in extra innings, 4-3 F/10, the White Sox have won three in a row and four of their last five at home. For the Tigers, it was their second loss in a row and third in their last five games.
Detroit is scheduled to have Framber Valdez start the day on the mound for them. Valdez has had some struggles this year and has gone just 2-3 in 11 starts with a 4.28 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He has done some of his best work on the road this season, where he is 1-1 in seven starts with a 3.83 ERA and has held opponents to .237 BA.
As for the White Sox, they’ll have Anthony Kay get things started. Kay is 4-1 in 11 starts with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He has yet to factor into a loss at home and has gone 3-0 in four starts (six games played) with a 3.21 ERA and a .267 OBA,

I’m a bit shocked that the total is just 7.5 runs for this game. Yes, they only combined for seven runs last night. Anthony Kay has been pitching well and could contain Detroit’s struggling lineup (.203 BA over the last week). Framber Valdez was solid in his last outing, giving up just one run. But he’s also allowed four and seven runs in starts this month. The White Sox are hitting a respectable .265 over the last week and are averaging six runs a game in that span. They could certainly do the same against Valdez, who their lineup has hit .377 against (20-53), with the Tigers chipping in a couple to get over the total.
