The Chicago Cubs (57-44, 30-21 Home) will go for the series win against the Detroit Tigers (47-54, 20-31 Away) at Wrigley Field in the Windy City, starting at 8 p.m. EST. Fans can catch the game on ESPN.
Detroit needed extra innings to get the win Monday, but secured an 8-6 victory with three runs in the tenth. But the Cubbies flexed a little muscle at the plate in the first yesterday, scoring six in the bottom half of the inning before going on to win 11-2.
The Cubs are turning to Colin Rea to start the game today. Rea is 7-6 in 20 appearances (16 starts) with a 4.74 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. But he has had his better stuff at home, where he is 3-2 with a save in nine appearances (eight starts) with a 2.94 ERA and a .242 OBA.
As for the Tigers, Detroit is expected to hand the ball to Keider Montero. Montero is 6-5 in 21 appearances (15 starts) with a 3.22 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP. He often has his best stuff on the road, where he is 2-2 with one save in eight appearances (four starts), a 2.59 ERA, and a .153 OBA.

My initial thought for this game was to go with the Tigers moneyline (+100) since Montero is hard to hit and could keep the Cubs lineup in check. But then I examined his game log closer and saw that he has a handful of 5+ inning starts under his belt, but has gone 1 2/3 to 3 1/3 innings in his last five starts. Now, he has held teams scoreless in four of them, so I think he’ll get the Tigers on track early. The Tigers bullpen has a 3.86 ERA, so they may be just fine if Montero gets pulled early. Detroit has not been great at the plate (.227 since the Break), but Rea has been sharp at home, which has me thinking now that the UNDER is the best bet.
