The Utah Mammoth (29-23-4, 16-8-2 Home) will go for the season sweep of the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night (February 4) at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Fans can follow the action on ESPN+ once the puck drops at 9 p.m. EST.
This contest is the second of two scheduled games between Detroit and Utah. The Mammoth won the first back in December (on the 17th) in commanding fashion, 4-1, in Detroit. But this time, the game is on their home ice, where Utah is 16-8-2. However, Detroit has been a solid road team this season, going 15-8-4. Both teams are 2-3 in their last five games. Detroit bookended three losses with a pair of wins, the last a nice 2-0 win over Colorado after losing to the Avalanche 5-0 two days earlier. As for the Mammoth, Utah is coming off a commanding 6-2 win over Vancouver. The Mammoth lost their previous game to the Dallas Stars at home, 3-2, following a 5-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
Seeing as the Mammoth are a fairly new team, they have only faced Detroit three times, winning two (both in Detroit). The lone victory for the Red Wings came last season.
