The Detroit Red Wings were one of the most shocking teams at the beginning of the season; however, their excellent momentum was abruptly interrupted with two consecutive losses to the New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres. With those results in mind, the Red Wings must face their second game of the series against the St. Louis Blues with caution, as their defensive ineffectiveness isn’t expected to be eradicated from one game to another.

Additionally, it cannot be ignored that the Red Wings faced very difficult times during their first game against the Blues, in which they were forced to come back from 0-4 in less than two periods. In this matter, even though winning a game with such an adverse scenario could be motivating, the reality is that conceding four goals in 23 minutes is a clear sign of defensive ineffectiveness.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Blues are expected to look for revenge in this game against the Red Wings, not only because of their shameful loss in the first game of the series, but also because they are expected to improve their defensive level to get closer to the Western Conference’s playoff spots. Additionally, they haven’t won a home game since last October 18th, when they defeated the Dallas Stars (3-1).
