The Preds have been exceptional in recent weeks, no more so than when going into Florida and coming away with a 3-0 win over the Panthers on Thursday. The Winnipeg Jets are the only other team to keep the Panthers off the board at Amerant Bank Arena this season and they have the number one ranked defense in the league. The Florida win took the Preds to 14-0-2 in their last 16, a franchise record point streak. Filip Forsberg had points on all three goals, scoring twice to take him to 38 on the season. 12 games remain, starting here, and the Preds have the gap to the top of the Central Division down to seven points.
The return of Dylan Larkin to the lineup was a plus in Detroit who beat the New York Islanders 6-3 on Thursday to make it three straight wins at home. Things have not been so good for them when they have been on their travels, their last win on February 25, needing overtime to beat the Chicago Blackhawks. An excellent offensive output has just about kept the playoff dreams afloat while the blue line has done its best to sink them. Just once in their last 11 games, they have managed to keep their opponents to under three goals. That is going to be a dangerous level to defend at now that they head to the hottest team in the league in the first of five straight on the road for the Wings.
