A rematch between the Detroit Red Wings (14-11-2) and the Columbus Blue Jackets (12-9-5) will take place on Thursday evening inside Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. In the previous meeting that took place in Detroit, the Red Wings were able to steal a 4-3 win in overtime. The Blue Jackets had been leading 3-1 in the 3rd period before Ben Chiarot and Moritz Seider scored to tie things up and send it to an extra period. It took less than 2 minutes for Alex DeBrincat to find the back of the net for the game-winner.

Since the win, Detroit hit a rough patch and lost 4 straight games where they were outscored by a total of 8 goals. However, they kicked off December in winning fashion by defeating Boston 5-4 on Tuesday. Moritz Seider, who had been quiet since the last meeting with Columbus, was able to net a goal and pick up 2 assists in the win that snapped that losing streak.

For Columbus, the previous loss to Detroit was the beginning of their own 4-game losing streak. Just like Detroit, Columbus was able to break that streak in their last game by picking up a win on the road in New Jersey on Monday evening. The 5-3 win was highlighted by the 2 goals scored by Sean Monahan. Elvis Merzlikins was solid in the net and stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced and only allowed 1 full-strength goal.

With both teams coming off wins that snapped 4-game losing skids, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top here and builds momentum in a potential winning streak.
