In what is sure to be a thrilling game, the first of the Eastern Conference, the Pistons, with a 45-15 record, will face the second-place team in the West, the Spurs, with a 44-18 record.
Not long ago, on February 23, these teams crossed paths at Little Caesars Arena, where the Spurs inflicted one of those rare home losses on the Pistons in Detroit. San Antonio won that game 114-103; that game was part of San Antonio's undefeated month in February. Only a loss to the Knicks at the beginning of March prevented San Antonio from extending their streak to 13 games. It ultimately ended at eleven, as last Tuesday they returned to winning ways with a 131-91 victory over the 76ers. It was a resounding 40-point blowout in which San Antonio made 18 three-pointers, and Harper and Wembanyama combined for 44 points.
That same Tuesday, the Pistons lost the second game of their three-game road trip; they couldn't overcome the Cavaliers in Cleveland. Detroit lost 113-109. Before that loss, they had won six straight road games, but Duren's 24 points and Tobias Harris's 19 weren't enough.
