Denmark will be looking to banish the memory of their heartbreaking World Cup qualification defeat to Scotland when they host North Macedonia in the playoff semi finals on Thursday night. 

The Danes only needed a draw in their final group game to qualify automatically; however, they fell to a shock 4-2 defeat in a remarkable game and now must go through the agony of the playoffs in order to secure their place in this summer's tournament. 

The good news for Brian Riemer's side is that (aside from that loss at Hampden) their overall form has been excellent over the last year, with the likes of Rasmus Højlund and Mikkel Damsgaard enjoying excellent qualifying campaigns. 

They will certainly fancy their chances of getting past a North Macedonia side that were humbled 7-1 by Wales in their final group game. That loss means that the Macedonians have now won just one of their last six fixtures and will go into Thursday night's contest desperately short of confidence.
