After snapping a four-game win streak, the Dallas Mavericks will attempt to secure their first win streak since late February as they kick off their four-game road trip against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Tuesday.
The Mavs ended their losing spell with a gutsy 123-117 victory over the Detroit Pistons. Spencer Dinwiddie exploded for 31 points and PJ Washington added 27 to lead the injury-ravaged Mavericks past the promising young team in the Eastern Conference. Dallas, who lost 11 of their last 13 games, is fighting to stay in the play-in picture with barely three weeks left in the NBA regular-season. They currently share identical record with the 34-37 Suns, who hold the 10th place in the West.
The Knicks have been volatile in the past two weeks, during which they have gone 2-2 in four games. New York got a confidence-building win over the Washington Wizards 122-103 behind 31 points from Karl-Anthony Towns. New York (44-26) holds a three-game lead on their closest trailer, the Indiana Pacers (41-29).
