The Dallas Mavericks (19-34, 5-17 Away) will try to keep their lengthy losing streak from extending into the break when they face the Los Angeles Lakers (32-21, 14-10 Home) Thursday night. The streak began the last time the Mavericks faced the Lakers in Dallas on Jan. 24; Dallas fell 116-110. Losses to Minnesota, Charlotte, Houston, and Boston followed. They dropped the next one in Dallas to San Antonio, 135-123, and lost to the Spurs again the next night, 138-125. The Mavs last played on Tuesday, losing to the Suns in Phoenix, 120-111. It will certainly not be any easier for Dallas to pull out a win with Cooper Flagg on the bench with a foot injury. As for the Lakers, they’d love to end their losing streak before the break as well. They dropped a tough one to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, 119-110. With the team’s best player out with various injuries the following night against San Antonio, they dropped a second Tuesday night to the Spurs, 136-108, but with several important players (Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Austin Reaves, etc.) on the bench, the Lakers didn’t stand a chance (and lost 136-108).
